Technical and scientific discussion of amps, cables and other topics.

So now you change your ground . . .

You were saying that specs and measurements are pretty much useless but now you change it to "the info via measurements and/or specs as provided by manufactuers is pretty much useless to the audio consumer."[sic] Now, specs are ordinarily provided by the manufacturer, but measurements can be provided by other sources, and I usually find them in reviews. And as I said, I much prefer measurements.

KlausR seems to have found the manufacturer's measurements of his speakers to be useful, and being pro equipment, I imagine the information is likely to be accurate. I believe some amp manufacturers will provide an FR plot of the amp as part of the material included in the box.

Now, Head Room sells headphones and accessories and they provide measurements for many of the models they carry. Soundstage seems to think their measurements are reliable.

Now, the measurements of the Parasound Halo are consistent with it being a neutral amp, quite powerful and able to drive difficult loads. They provide no reason to suppose it will sound different from numerous other fine amps operated within their design limits. I find that to be very useful information.
