Not capable of anything else it's understandable why someone would jack off. What bother's me about audio is over the years technical conversation has evolved into little more than a frenzied circle jerk where one side argues that it's better to yank with the right hand and the other side arguing the left hand is preferable.
Though some of us might find such conversations amusing it is in reality, to me at least, quite depressing when one considers that fact that some consider such topics as enlightening or important.
But it's not surprising. If a small minded dullard gets elected to run the U.S.A and proves himself as such only to be rewarded by reelection what does this say about the average Americans ability to discern the difference between marketing/advertising horseshit and the light of an objective "reality"? It doesn't say much. So why would we expect audiophiles to be any more brilliant?
