Jon, I stand with you on this. I don't do double blind tests for a living, however I was first exposed to ABX double blind tests approximately 25 years ago through Dr. Lipshitz and then through the AES. I saw the problems with the test, even at that time, and I discussed it with the principals, both in print and in person.
For some reason, some people believe that a series of test 'nulls' gives us insight on how to make better audio equipment, or at least 'proves' that it doesn't matter whether we make better audio equipment. This is what is false.
