RE: That's what I wanted to do

Well, I shouldn't have said "simply" in the post because it was conceptually simple enough for a simple person like me to do, but it was a major PITA to spend hours in that attic on my hands and knees with a battery-operated light trying to route and stale Romex into various nooks and crannies. The old wiring was strange pre-WWII stuff: relatively small-gauge but surrounded by at least 1/4 inch of some type of organically-based insulation that looked like it had tar as a major component. (Maybe I should try it as speaker wires %%} I just left most of it up there, wondering if it contained asbestos.

The lowest quote for this work was $4200; I used up about $500 in wire and parts, and about five weekends. Not sure if I came out ahead or not, but at least if the house burns down I'll know I contributed to the conflagration.
