Yes, as a matter of fact it was Earl Geddes great home theater

Earls custom white spring-loaded bedsheet screen provided such a clear picture at such a low cost that I think he could make a fortune from that idea alone!

I didn't like Earl's speakers when used in his very high ceiling living room. The echo off the ceiling would have been a big issue for me with any speakers, including my own. And the treble was not loud enough with my two-channel CD, which is very rare for speakers I've heard (I think most speakers have too much treble output!).

In his home theater the same DIY speakers sounded great because the room was better and home theater usually sounds much better to me with some treble roll-off (usually from me using a treble tone control). With my own two-channel CD in the home theater his speakers still sounded like they had not quite enough treble for my tastes, but were otherwise very good. Nothing like a good room to make good speakers sound their best.

The only other speakers I've heard with similar "below average" treble output were Legacy Studios which are very good near-field monitor speakers.

I was very surprised afterwards by seeing the $150 Pioneer receiver . Since this was the best home theater I've heard, it seems silly to speculate on whether it would have sounded better with a "better" receiver or amplifier. I'll never know and I also trust Earl to select equipment that made sense to his own ears. If the results are so good, it's hard to question the component choices of the equipment owner.
