Re: Tube microphonics are the ultimate limiting factor

Am I 100% sure? Yes I am 100% sure that I am not hearing "euphonic" coloration from tube microphonics. Why? Because I don't believe there is such a thing as euphonic distortion. I think all distortion that you can hear (ie. not masked by the ear/brain) will degrade the sound. The issue is what you hear and what you can't hear.

If I tap on the tubes while they are on do I hear anything out of the speakers? No. Not a peep. Also, the amps are dead quiet. Even into 100db/watt speakers. Also, as the output tubes are the only tubes in this amp it minimizes the issue. KR tubes are not built like any other tubes. They are an original design and are built to standards that the cheap Russian and Chinese tubes can only dream about. Rated lifetime is over 10,000 hours. The vacuum is 100 times lower in pressure and the glass is hard laboratory grade glass (like pyrex). The triode itself is rigidly held both top and bottom. Forget your experience with cheap and nasty 6AS7 tubes this is another league of construction.
