Not to put words in Al's mouth but....

As I understood Al's comments, he in no way said a digital amp would sound better in general. He only said, in his opinion, you are not getting the best possible sound because he feels your speakers are not a good match for a SET amp.

I think it is reasonable to state certain speakers will not (and in fact can't) sound their best with a high output impedance amp.

I don't know your speakers so I can't comment.

There can be no debate that when it comes to top quality home Hi-Fi systems SET's are a favorite of many experienced audiophiles. Why ask why? You know what you like!

I remain convinced that some are sensitive to things that are way beyond our ability to hear. Rather it is CD and vinyl, or tubes and solid state, or digital amps and linear amps, or feedback and no feedback, some are able to discern (and are bothered by) things that others don't notice at all.
