I love listening to fine music(especially jazz-music), BUT I want to listen without distortion. However, there people who look at excessive second and third harmonic distortion as beneficial. Otherwiese, distortion-generators as most SE 300B-amps wouldn't exist.Sure. As I said, whatever gets one where one wants to go.
But suppose you were to audition two amplifiers and you had no idea which two amplifiers they were and what their respective linearity was.
And let's say that under these conditions you preferred the amplifier with the greater distortion. Once this had been made known to you, which one would you actually buy? Would you buy the more linear amplifier simply because you know it's more linear and has less distortion which is what you say you want? Or would you buy the less linear amp because you actually preferred it when listening to it?
