That is good to hear. I got the wrong impression.

actually i very much share it.

Wow a rather sensless personal attack.

It ought to be obvious. I guess the question is how did you manage to get it wrong in your original post? "There is only one absolute sound and that is the sound of real instruments in a real space." "only one" your words.
> > "That was not the original mission of Stereophile or JGH"> >
> More or less it was actually. He bemoans the fact of the "abandoned" acoustic music reference and says so:
"We seem to have come to a tacit agreement that it's no longer necessary, or even desirable, for a home music system to sound like the real thing"
See, the real thing, aka acoustic instruments.
"Audio actually used to have a goal: perfect reproduction of the sound of real music performed in a real space. That was found difficult to achieve, and it was abandoned when most music lovers, who almost never heard anything except amplified music anyway, forgot what "the real thing" had sounded like"
Again, reference to real music in a real space as the goal. This was also the goal of TAS in the beginning.
Finally:
"Abandoning the acoustical-instrument standard, and the mindless acceptance of voodoo science, were not parts of my original vision"
So, I think this is sufficient evidence of JGH's vision for stereophile.>
I think it is evidence of his mind set now. I would actually go by what he said back when he was the editor of Stereophile. Back then the mission as JGH said it many times himself in Stereophile was to review audio from the perspective of the actual consumer. IOW take a component, use it and live with it and then report his impressions. It was Pearson that made a big deal about using live music as a reference. he felt that set TAS apart from Stereophile.

That is a meaningless answer.
