I agree with most points in the article.

Most sources define high fidelity as something like: high fidelity n. The electronic reproduction of sound, especially from broadcast or recorded sources, with minimal distortion.

Or, another way to put it is a system that is true to the source. If the source material is bad, it will sound bad. If it is brash, it will sound brash. If it good, on the other hand that is what you will also hear.

Not everyone is seeking high fidelity sound. There is nothing wrong with buying a sound more in tune to your preference. Perhaps there is a real advantage with the over compressed lossy formats that are popular today in helping to make the worst material sound acceptable. However, this is not hi-fi.
