KOSS Porta-pro headphones. I have had a pair for almost twenty years that I use sparingly as ear buds are more discreet in public.
They have incredible bass and play very loudly without distorting. They are also very efficient so it won't drain you phone any faster than buds.
I checked out their web-site and they are still produced and sell fro $50.00

Highly recommended for metal fans.
