QTC1 is the best omni microphone of my knowledge for accuracy. Apart from the relatively high noise. The noise is high because the membrane is quite small. So, I use them for loud sound sources, like drums or some piano etc. One pair in A-B configuration. We have one matched pair at the studio i work in. If they wasn´t so noisy I would use them on more sounds. The measurements from Earthworks are correct(which is very rare these days). The tone curve is fantastic. If you want to record the instruments as accurate as possible this is the microphones I recommend. If the instrument produces low spl I would recommend you to use another mic if you find the noise to loud.
A loudspeker developer I know ordered one QTC1 with a tone curve as straight as possible up to around 50 kHz and got one. It outperformed his other lab mics.
They are very omnidirectional because of the small membrane used and that is probably the secret. This is however demanding for the room. If the recording room is poor the Earthworks QTC1 will reproduce this unforgivenly.
I strongly recommend these mics, because they are the best omnis apart from the noise in my opinion and of my knowledge.
