I have no experience with the Sonos. The Touch does not need the Computer on for Internet Radio. I hooked a USB drive to the touch and it worked, however, if you have a large music library, I would recommend using the touch wirelessly or Ethernet on your network with the music library on the computer.The Touch is a great device. I bought 2 of them and got rid of all my CD players. Make sure you use an external DAC if you are concerned about Sound Quality. The internal DAC of the Touch is quite Bad. Some folks may say it's great, but then they may listen to compressed MP3 as well. the internal DAC of the Touch is not for Audiophiles.
