Does anyone have experience with Windows 7, media player, and NAS?

Okay, so I finally bit the bullet and upgraded to Windows 7.

On my laptop with an SSD, it's been great. The laptop boots in seconds, everything feels super responsive, and had no problems with Windows Media Player finding all my music on the NAS.

On the desktop, it's been a different story. When I add the NAS music folder to the library, nothing happens. I even tried deleting and adding the folder a few times.

The laptop runs Home Premium and the desktop runs Professional and is part of a domain, perhaps that accounts for the difference in behaviour.

All the music is stored in WMA Lossless format.

I did some googling, and apparently Windows 7 does not like non-indexed libraries, and there is no easy way to create an index on a NAS. But in that case, why does it work on my laptop?
