RE: Thanks

i actually found your comments interesting, and i'm glad you took the time to do the comparisons yourself. I just didn't want you to think that I was ignoring your well-meant advice.

i only have a 16gb card on my phone, but most of the memory is used for other things (GPS map, data files etc.) so the most I can spare for music is a few GB.

I'm a little more fortunate on the Sharp Zaurus - it has 2 CF slots and 1 SD slot so in theory I can have 130GB on it (2 x 64 GB CF cards, 1 x 2 GB SD card - the Zaurus doesn't like SDHC). However, currently I only have 48 GB on it (1 16GB CF card containing all my Japanese dictionaries and encyclopedias, and 1 32GB CF card containing a selection of music - currently at -v0.)

Based on my "experiment", I think I will reconvert all the music on the Zaurus from -v0 the -v2, and use the extra space to store more albums.

My 160GB ipod classic stores a much larger selection of my music collection at 256 kbps AAC. But I'm now thinking maybe I should convert that to -v2 as well, but reluctant to since that will take too long.
