Hi,
In general, I have not had great results feeding an external DAC via the Lynx 2B compared to feeding the same DAC with a sound card that has a proper impedance coax spdif soldered on board, but I've never slaved the Lynx to an external DAC. I think the results probably have to do with the DB25 connection of the Lynx card. The best results I've had are from DACs with asynchronous USB and Firewire connections.
I currently have a DAC that has a firewire connection, but I can also feed it via the Lynx, and I believe I can slave the Lynx to the external clock. I can compare the two methods if you like, but the results would not have any universal meaning beyond my own DAC.
I think one problem you may have when slaving the Lynx to an external DAC is that you won't be able to automatically change sampling rates based on the rate of the source file. You will probably have to do it manually, if that matters.
Alan
