Hey, I don't know why you can't READ with a brain. I mean, where did I say, or imply, the interpolated bits were just the mean of the preceding and following?
Any upward or downward aplitude trend will be reflected in the original samples that precede and follow the interval being interpolated so nothing additional that needs to be taken into consideration.
