" I have the free hi res samples from Kent Poon and if I play three version of Freddie, I am shocked at how similar they sound - how great 44.1k sounds now. I hear only the slightest bit more separation of the instruments, but it's damn SUBTLE. "
Be careful there with using the Poon samples as the basis for your statement. The jazz Prologue release from which you are basing your statement on has all the information above 20kHz truncated off, no matter the sample rate (done intentionally). As many know, above 20kHz is where we often perceive the superiority of the higher resolutions (better "air", better instrument separation, etc.).
Now, THAT said, by all means buy his full Jazz Prologue release. I think no matter the limitation mentioned above, its one of the finest sounding "computer audio" releases I have, period!

Joel
