It's not really that obvious :) Using dCS converters for AD and DA conversion, linked up directly in series with an analogue source it is easy to check out how different sample rates and bit depths sound. With a very low jitter connection like this and excellent conversion there is really not that big a difference accross the sample rates, I actually think 16bit to 24 bit sounds more noticeable. The sound everyone associates with rbcd is much more to do with the whole DA conversion system than the bandwidth and resolution of the data.
