RE: SSD sounds better because

It would be very interesting........ I believe you are correct in interpreting the "speed" of the data movement and acquisition. However, I don't think (i.e., intelligent estimate) that this would affect the audio quality. I think these (SSD data acquisition, CPU processing speed) processes are already above the "speed" that audio requires for high quality sound.

My opinion is, look at it like this. The items you mention are what we'll be discussing in 5 years regarding audio quality. Today, we've got to concentrate on more macro-level stuff like designing and shielding against EMI, codec quality, and improving source package quality (i.e., FLAC and AIFF vs. MP3 and AAC, not the ultimate sources such as LPs or CDs).
