That's how Telarc did it.
we are calculating (among other things) which element of the sound belongs in which part of the sound field.
Good luck with taking a mic feed and truly extrapolating such information!
So did you work for Dolby or DTS yourself and you know all about it?
I refer to having participated in a recording of the ASO. I understand the process.
BTW, I worked as an IT professional myself for over 25 years.
Did you write algorithms? I loved them! My favorites were incorporating them in multiple nested loops where three dimensional values were used in the calculations. I enjoyed the challenge (and sometimes requirement in that day) of creating the most efficient code structures to perform a given task.
