A process of elimination indicated that the modem had to be the source of the corruption coming to the MacBook via the Ethernet cable.
RFI noise gremlins look for every opportunity to exploit.
I use a dual rail HDPlex linear to power both Arris 3.1 modem and Cisco router. Along with a Tripp Lite ethernet isolator for the main system.
