RE: ADI 2 FS Dac

Hi Abe!
When listening to the string section on one file, the Mykek 192/DSD Dac was sounding overbearing.
On the ADI, they were noticeably smoother and not so aggressive.
I started to see that the ADI had strengths I wasn't focusing on.
I used the Jumpers mostly when I was using the Mytek.
That 5V output was "Hot" for my Volume Control, small movement, big difference.
It got too loud too fast for me.
I think I have the Menu set properly on the ADI, but I use it as a DAC not Preamp/Dac.
While I basically like it, some Files have not sounded good on it to my ears.
Bettered by the other Dacs.
I agree with your assessment that it lies in between the Mytek and your PS Audio or my other Dacs.
I have also had a few problems wit the ADI.
One is the DC Protection Circuit kicks in on Internet sources, and even did it yesterday with HQ Player.
That mutes the sound.
The other is Dropouts, which I haven't completely tracked down.
A wrong setting on HQ can trigger that too.
But I'm not selling the ADI, I just had a very disappointing day with it...
When even the cheap Korg was sounding better, more full bodied, "normal",
the leanness of the ADI was putting me off.
But not always and not on everything I listen to.
