Well, crap! RME not holding up to direct comparisons.

I liked it until I started making comparisons with what I already have.
That's Lampizator Euforia DSD Dac, and a McIntosh D150.
The Lampi was 2x the price of the RME, the Mac 3x, so...
I first listened to the RME on my Desktop System, Audio Engine Bamboo Powered Speakers, iMac.
When I started listening on my Den System, same room, different wall,
I gradually found that it sounds a bit bright and hard, more one-dimensional, and kind of blunt.
That system is Mac MA 6900, Kef R 300/REL T5 Sub.
On many recordings I found the treble to be more aggressive than I'm used to.
The Mac D150 is refined and and has great Tone Quality.
The Lampi is more textured than the RME, isn't hard sounding in texture.
I'm listening at DSD 128 on all of them.
The RME does DSD 256, but that wasn't enough to top the others.
I used the same cabling on the RME and Lampi.
The Mac isn't easily cannibalised, so I let it be.
There is a mis-match in cabling between the RME and Mac, the Mac using Clarus Crimson RCA and Balanced.
Maybe Pro Dacs aren't the best choice for Home use.
So I'll be listing it soon, I think.

I used the +13 and +7 Output Settings, and DSD Direct, which set the Volume at -1 db.
