I was making a generic statement regarding quality cables, which are - for most - not considered an add on. From what I have read USB cables can introduce timing errors that may not be fixable by any USB input. I don't know that for sure however: I am not technically inclined.
Furthermore, I did not notice much if any difference when I briefly compared a generic USB cable to an audiophile one on the Bifrost (connected to my Schiit Asgard 3). Likewise the Bifrost and Asgard seemed minimally or not at all affected by either upgraded power cords or ICs over the stock Schiit ones. This was a surprising first for me.
