To do so normally starts with an API from the streaming service that the audio manufacturer can incorporate within his control software. I have gathered that Amazon had no such thing (at least originally, the current situation is unknown) and that dealing with them can be, er, "difficult". I would imagine that to Amazon a company that has, say, 200,000 users might be seen as insignificant and not be considered as economically viable to enter into an arrangement with. I guess the evidence supporting this is that Amazon HD has been with us now for, what,18 months or 2 years? Yet so far the only streamer app support I am aware of is Denon/Marantz HEOS which was there almost from the beginning.


But, yes, eventually further players will support it unless Amazon adopt a "closed garden" approach.

I am concerned at the impact it may have on smaller streaming services. I would not move from Qobuz as I love the service and the user interface. As a classical music enthusiast I find the Amazon environment unsympathetic.So the thought that I may be forced to switch to Apple or Amazon is a good enough reason for me to keep my silver discs albeit mostly in storage. And more than a couple of important classical music labels will not allow any streaming of their repertoire so neither Amazon or Apple are of any use in that respect.

I mentioned a long time ago that the economics of streaming are such that recording minority musical genres may disappear except for the major labels who could afford to write off the losses against income from pop music. Unfortunately the market listing of those companies makes that option less possible.
