The original justification for oversampling was to be able to implement a really steep reconstruction filter. But you don't have to go beyond 8x to implement a steep filter, and even the steepest filter AKM offers isn't all that steep. It's not brick wall. So I honestly don't know what they gain by using such a high frequency clock. This particular DAC chip supposedly has the lowest distortion on the market. The fast clock might have something to do with that, but I don't know how. I've got an EE degree, but I only know the basics of how ADCs and DACs work. These days, the complexity of these parts is staggering.
I think filters 1-4 should be nearly indistinguishable because the difference in response between their "sharp" and "slow" options is pretty small. But filters 5 and 6 should be audibly different from the rest.
