My NAS is a QNAP TS120 and my router an Asus RT-AC66U.
I attached a 2TB USB HD to the Asus.
Like the Qnap it can do SAMBA and DLNA.
As I detest streaming, I use SAMBA (file sharing) to access the audio.
For playback it makes no difference.
When tagging the Asus is obvious slower. Wouldn't be surprised it equals my older Qnap TS109.
Anyway, you might wonder if you need a NAS at all.
