Nothing wrong with WMAL, it is MS own FLAC.
A couple of years ago probably the best bet in combination with WMP.
Best because WMP didn't tag WAV properly (and only at rip time).
Hence when you moved the audio to another computer all tags where lost.
WMAL is tagged properly.
Don't know what the situation is today (ditched WMP) but WMP12
- Don't write custom tags in the audio
- Resizes album art to 200x200
If you are running Win10, you can use FLAC as it is supported now by MS.
FLAC has a wider support, today almost any media player, DAP, etc supports it (except Apple)
Maybe this link is of use (a bit dated) http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/WMP12/Win7.htm
So, how do I get all, or just a selection of albums, and their metadata information transferred to a memory card,
Not unlike any other file.
Be aware of custom tags (they don't transfer as they are library only)
Likewise cover art might be in the same directory as the audio but hidden by default
Another option is Windows Media Sharing.
This is DLNA, you don't transfer files but use DLNA to play from/to PCs in the network
