Just Spotify/iPad...RPI or USB DAC

This will be my first jump into computer audio but I have spent a few evenings researching. Current digital setup is basic: iPad streaming Spotify 320kbps, that's it and I don't plan on anything else digitally.

Would I hear an improvement in SQ adding a USB dac setup like a Dragonfly?
Would going with a RPI/BOSS dac setup for not much more money sound better? The RPI build sounds like a fun little project that I could put together.

I would be adding this to my home system. I mainly listen to vinyl and RF FM radio now through my tube based gear.
