It's the high price

Digital downloads are simply too expensive. Instead I purchase new vinyl and record it to DSD128. To my ears the results are equivalent-- even slightly favoring the sound of recorded vinyl-- and the cost of the recorder is amortized over time.

If hi-res digital downloads cost half the price of physical media, I would lean in that direction.
