RE: Digital Content vs CDs and Vinyl

"CDs, vinyl are outselling digital downloads for the first time since 2011"

Physical media just lost less ground than digital downloads but both are still losers ;-)

"...revenue from digital downloads plummeted 25 percent to $1.3 billion over the previous year. Revenue from physical products, by contrast, fell just 4 percent to $1.5 billion."

Digital downloads are toast as streaming services have taken over. It makes sense. Why buy physical media when the typical consumer can have access to millions of titles for a small monthly subscription fee?

It also makes sense now that mobile data usage plans are more reasonably priced..... AND the fact that you are not forced to use a data plan at all.

Most streaming services allow you to temporarily download a batch of tunes to your phone or tablet over your home Wifi. You can then play those tunes "offline" and not use your cellular data plan while on the go. I do that with Tidal. I download several hundred tunes to my iPad before I go on a road trip. I also subscribe to Tidal for CD quality streaming in my main rig at home.
