its your Dac and it isn't your Dac...
I had a similar issue for quite awhile.. got rid of a perfectly (probably) good Schitt multi bit gungnir because of it...
its all in the data.. you have an incompatablity with your data stream noise that you can try to solve if you really like the Dac... ...or get another Dac that behaves... and how do you know it will until you try it ?
Abe gave you a head start with Mac Mini... turn stuff off.. use a digital drive.. optimize it...there is a lot of information out there.. you are not first... then go to the next item in the stream..
I solved my issues by taking one step at a time.. network... Mac.. and software.. I use LMS to a Touch to my Dac.. it was adjustments in LMS that enabled me to solve the "pops"
