RE: Where do I find computer audio for dummies?

If it is about ripping I shouldn't worry about obsolescence.
The PCM audio format is here to stay for a very long time.
Of course you rip to a lossless format.
Not only because this is a 1 to 1 copy of the CD, but because it is lossless you can always convert to any other (lossless) file format without losing information.

Looks like you prefer OSX.
There are a couple of rippers supporting AccurateRip: http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/SW/OSX/Ripping.htm
I'm a dBpoweramp fanboy.
As OSX doesn't support FLAC, ALAC is your best bet.

Maybe this page is of use: http://www.thewelltemperedcomputer.com/Intro/Ripping.htm

Success!
