Mac Mini/iTunes--Please help me AbeCollins!

I am just getting around to ripping my modest CD collection, and have been researching the best method--It has been overwhelming/paralyzing, until I came across Abe's advice to just do it, and keep it simple to start! So, I am going to do just that. My plan is to use AIFF format in iTunes--I have also researched and downloaded XLD and was successful in ripping a couple of trial CDs. However, I don't feel comfortable using it, because I don't completely understand all of the settings-I am inclined to stick with iTunes...

I want to purchase a Mac mini for my server, which will go to an Oppo 105 (or 205). We are familiar with Apple products, as I have an older iMac and we both have iPhones and iPads. Abe--I have gone through the archives, doing a search all of your posts regarding Mac Minis and your setup. I took note of the fact that you had very satisfactory results with your first 2007 Mini, and your comments that even the current base model will be more than adequate. I have been trying to decide between purchasing a used unit or go with a new one, and I am leaning toward a used one. I looked on the OWC site, and I can get a 2009 model with a 480GB solid state hard drive and 8GB of Memory, for $500--which would be $100 cheaper than the new base model.

I also want to use the Mini for Netflix, and I see that the older one does not have a HDMI output. Were you satisfied with the video on your 2007 Mini using a mini DVI to HDMI adapter? Any other recommendations or input would be greatly appreciated! As I said, I am starting out with the basics, and will address the software player (BitPerfect, Audirvana...) and well as external storage at a later date.
