"Two comments. First, crosstalk still involves music"
or the unintended emi added to the other channels signal or the various types of distortion added to the other channels music, any signal that happens to be on the other channel, musical or not really.
To my way of thinking, anything added to the signal I didn't intend be there is noise or distortion, whether some consider it musical or not.
The theory of why it matters was never in question for me though it has already been discussed plenty on this thread. I haven't disagreed with a single word of the theory.
As irrational as the pursuit may appear to all those who have replied to me, the market does exist for high quality portable two channel converters with crosstalk performance hundreds of times better than this Mytek. These devices exist and sell quite well in some cases. I've listed a couple examples for Abe several posts back, and there are plenty more I didn't list.
Besides, if the crosstalk is so benign and really doesn't matter why not just quote the awesome -80dB spec and remove any doubt about the honesty of the marketing team and any question about whether they tried to pull a fast one on the customers?
