RE: Hmmm

"What were you 'looking at' that told you the crosstalk was -80dB down? "

Your right. I should have been more clear. The FFT of channel 2 taken via the test I described last post shows a mirror image of the FFT of channel 1 but apparently attenuated by approximately 80dB.

"Regardless, how do you know that the crosstalk is from within the ADC and not your setup, pre-ADC?"

My preamp drove channel one and was only attached via cabling to channel one. One of my turntables cart coils was attached via cabling across the input of channel two. The other cart coil was left floating. In other words, there is no physical connection between channel one and channel two except inside the adc since my turntable sits across the room from the preamp and there are no wires connecting them. I suppose it's possible low level radiated emi signals could have somehow made it onto the cart coil feeding channel two but I would say that is highly unlikely in my setup it was emi from my preamp at this high level and even more unlikely that the emi radiated from my preamp exactly mirrors the reference signal.

"Additionally, Audacity on a computer hardly provides a reference quality signal source or means for accurate measurement. "

Why would I require reference quality signals for determining crosstalk levels? It is a simple comparison of peak values from one channel to the other.

"If you truly need a high quality ADC you might try one with an instrumentation amplifier front-end sometimes used for amplifying laboratory grade sensors and transducers before the A/D converter."

The conversion quality of the ADC seems fantastic if you only record one channel. It is able to achieve very low noise on single channel recordings and also appears quite low distortion as well but as you say I don't have the right tools for correctly assessing the distortion performance.

Maybe I could just source another identical Stereo192 ADC and use them each as single channel devices with sync'd clocks for doing stereo captures.
