RE: Hmmm

Regardless of what I have in mind for my primary usage of the device, it all feels pretty lame to me since I was fooled by what I'd consider likely to be an intentional deception on the part of the manufacturer. I'm surprised anyone would argue otherwise.

I don't disagree with your argument about the technical necessity for it in the case I mentioned, ie where people are only using it for ripping vinyl it is technically mute point. However, Mytek had no way to know what I planned to do with the device when they marketed it to me.

Again, it's the point of the matter. It feels sleazy. It is sleazy. I would guess since others quote it, they suck at it compared to those who do quote it, it was completely a conscious decision to omit the spec from the literature as an attempt to trick unsuspecting customers like me into believing otherwise so they'd spend the money here rather than at the competitors. Just saying man. That's how I feel. I wish I would have been warned. I'd have spent my money elsewhere, again more on principle and the possibility that I may have applications other than vinyl.

BTW for some impressively spec'd carts, by their quoted crosstalk ratings, check out Allaerts. They have several models claiming -70dB. I realize even if hell froze over and one of those ended up mounted to my SL1200 it still wouldn't invalidate your point for my intended usage.
