I must admit I’m a bit at loss.
The whole concept of asynchronous USB is indeed asynchronous operation.
The clock of the DAC runs at a fixed speed and the USB receiver of the DAC watches the buffers and tell the PC to send more/less data to avoid buffer under/overruns.
One is inclined to say that clock “modes” shouldn’t matter unless “Auto” means adapting the clock speed to the incoming data as needed in case of unidirectional protocols like SPDIF.
