RE: New Mac Mini

Hey Abe,

Your post is most enlightening. I was not aware of iFixit.
To answers your 'why(s)' well, you've answered that.

I would think that most people buy the Mini for its very compact size and capability out of the box.
That's what I'm looking for AND to get away from Windows. It'll be my main office PC. Maybe rip/burn DVD or Bluray, nothing more.
I love the mini(and the OS) and have been waiting to make the move once the Haswell chip came aboard.
If upgradeability is a major deciding factor, just buy a tower PC.
See above. :-)

I use a mac mini for my headless music server...circa 07'
Recently, I bought Amarra only to find I need Snow Leopard and more memory. No biggie on either front. I've upgraded the memory once before.
The Intel NUC looks inviting except for Windows.

Love the pics you post of your system!

Cheers,
W
