To play DSD (or converting) is a matter of applying the noise shaping.
This is a rather complex calculation, no integer in sight.
Hence, there is no such thing as an integer rule.
The question is what you wish to preserve.
I converted a DSD64 to PCM using JRiver.
No matter what sample rate one choose for the PCM (tried both 176 and 352), JRiver applies the same filter.
MusicScope tells me that a 77 kHz -144 dBFS is reached.
Mathematical spoken, the entire conversion by JRiver will be preserved if you convert to 176 kHz PCM.
Of course this applies only to this specific conversion.
