Re: ? about EAC ripping speeds

8 minutes seems pretty slow. It could be a vareity of things, make sure you check and recheck all your settings and make sure they are setup the same way you had them setup on your old computer. Your ripping time will also depend on the condition of the disk your ripping, scratched disks can be very slow since EAC will read and reread the scratched part of the disk many times. Do you want to rip and compress to flac OR mp3 or do you just want uncompressed .wav files?? If u want just raw .wav files make sure your not accidentally converting the files which could slow down thing considerably.

As for the SCSi adapter, i really dont think that is whats making your rips slow. I have an AMD 4200x2, 2gigs ram, Samsung IDE dvd/cdrw combo drive and It usually takes around 3 minutes or so to rip a disk. But you may wanna try using the Plextor drive and SCSI adapter in the new computer and see if it changes anything. But more than likely something is setup incorectly. Make sure your IDE drivers are up to date, make sure your IDE channel for the drive is set to Ultra DMA2. See if any of that helps. Good luck.
