It is all relative, I think.
I compared a high res album to the same music ripped from the CD and liked it. Also, 99% of the music I listen to now is 16/44.1. It is not available in high res.
You found the quality of the recording was not up to the original LPs as you remembered them. And also inferior to some of the better modern high res recordings.
We may well both be right.
I may still go ahead and buy the high-res Klemperer's Deutsches Requiem. i really love this recording (even on CD!) and it is unlikely to appear in a better shape anytime soon.
