RE: Tuning Linux/MPD/Alsa for best sound on ALIX processor

The alsa device from mpd.conf is:

audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "WaveIO"
period_time "21333"
fragment_size "4096"
device "hw:1,0"
buffer_time "250000"
mixer_type "none"
mixer_device "disabled"
auto_resample "no"
auto_format "no"
}

I have started with a much more basic mpd.conf

audio_output {
type "alsa"
name "WaveIO"
device "hw:1,0"
mixer_type "none"
}

to my ear the one above is superior.

Only other thing worth noting is

audio_buffer_size "8192"
buffer_before_play "100%"

I think this does not make a lot of difference, but I prefer the sound.
