If you want to compare DAW applications to cPlay, be sure to have a listen via Magix Samplitude v10.1. You can get a demo version from the Magix website (linked below). While you're at it, be sure to grab the PDF manual.
MANY Professionals declare the Samplitude playback engine is superior to Steinberg's... in my experience, I'd have to agree. Used as a file player, I've found it to give me a realism on original high-rez recordings that Steinberg software can't match (Wavelab and Cubase/Nuendo).
