Sorry, I am not familiar with all the equipment and programs you mention. If I understand correct yuo are trying to connect an NTFS formatted drive to the MAC. That may work, but is painfully slow.
I will leave this to others, my knowledge is not enough to support you, maybe you should start the MAC FAQ on NTFS.

I have no speed issues in my network - I run iTunes on the MAC, sharing the library to other iTunes omn XP PC's in my network.
