I don't spend time and money where it makes no sense. Using pricey USB cables to an external USB disk makes no sense at all for reasons that I have already explained. There are many other areas in the system where better cables do make sense, including the USB cable to the DAC, and those are the areas I focus on. Some call it prioritizing. A high-end USB cable to an external USB disk doesn't make it on my list of priorities but if it noticeably improves YOUR system, that's great!
