I am continuing to follow the MicroRendu reviews and came across this one extolling the virtues of the Sonore Signature Power Supply, which the user claimed offered the biggest "Sonic Improvement" in his quest. This would bring the upgrade to around $2 Grand.
Which is pretty confusing to me as the Microrendu gave him less of a Sonic Improvement than the Power Supply to it.... Just Saying... You can read the entire thread at the link below.

"Then I moved from JRiver to Roon for 2 channel from my CAPSv4, and then with Roon v1.2 I moved the main Roon program for 2 channel to the Zuma with the CAPSv4 as the Roon endpoint outputting USB audio; and then I replaced the CAPSv4 with the Microrendu using the CAPSv4 HDPlex power supply 9vdc output; and then I replaced the HDPlex power supply with the Sonore Signature power supply outputting 7vdc. Each step a sonic improvement, particularly that last step!"
