RE: End of Days for USB audio?

I agree with your comments about the relative simplicity (in terms of use anyway) of usb audio. Hires on such systems is now fine and I mean > = 176k or DSD 128. However, there are configuration issues for many users as vendors omit the ability of XMOS drivers' abilities to vary buffers and to look for errors etc. Some of the drivers supplied by well regarded vendors are also 2 generations behind!

Until my house has proper LAN wiring, and I would probably want an internet network separate from audio (should have taken my lawyer seriously in having twin networks when building the house), I don't want to go to a 2 PC solution unless I have to.
