I continue to be a Touch fan after several years of owning multiple units. On the other hand, I'm not sure why you're antagonistic about a device that, while similar to the Touch, offers a level of refinement and absence of otherwise unnecessary features for optimum performance like touch screen, WiFi output and DAC. I applaud its simplicity and focus. Remember that John Swenson was involved in the design to refine it for audio use.
At the same time, I'm not an apologist for our math challenged Hollywood professional whether it's counting hi rez release availability or simply telling time, at which both he fails miserably.
I will be ordering a uRendu soon and will offer my observations of its performance vs my Touch following the acquisition. My goal is better sound quality. And my experience suggests that simpler most often is better. :)
